Yaa Kundendu tushaara haaradhavalaa, Yaa shubhravastraavritha|
Yaa veenavara dandamanditakara, Yaa shwetha padmaasana||

Yaa brahmaachyutha shankara prabhritibhir Devaisadaa Vanditha|
Saa Maam Paatu Saraswatee Bhagavatee Nihshesha jaadyaapahaa||

Translation in English: “May the deity of learning, who is fair as the jasmine moon, whose white garland resembles dew drops, who is bedecked in serene white apparel, whose arm rests on the musical instrument veena, who sits on a white lotus throne and who is shielded and revered by the Gods, please protect me. May you help me to get rid of languor, sloth and illiteracy.”

Translation in English: I offer my obeisance To Bhagwati Saraswati who is fair, who is an essential celestial energy, who is the epitome of wisdom, who holds a Veena,Satik rosary and Vedas in her hands and uses one of her hands to bless her devotees. She is the embodiment of knowledge and has the powers to eradicate unawareness and confer intelligence.

Translation in English: “Oh! Deity, Saraswati, I offer my humble prostrations to you, who will grant allmy wishes.I will begin studying with thehope that thou will shower your blessings on me.

Translation in English: “O, the great deity Saraswati, lotus-eyed epitome of knowledge... O, big-eyed Goddess, omnipresent in universe, bless me with wisdom and knowledge that exists in the world.”

“Om Aim Kleeng Saum Saraswatiya Namaha”

Significance: This mantra transforms a person into a philosopher, who attains highest aptness in education. This mantra ought to be recited in the morning pujas.

It is noted that the learned and the educated section of the society worship this deity of knowledge and learning. Hence only the elite and educated class chants the Saraswati Puja mantra as they believe that by chanting the Saraswati Puja mantra they can reach the highest level of attaining wisdom and gain moksha, which means salvation of the soul.

Saraswati Puja Mantra in Hindi

1. या कुन्देन्दुतुषारहारधवला या शुभ्रवस्त्रावृता।
या वीणावरदण्डमण्डितकरा या श्वेतपद्मासना॥
या ब्रह्माच्युत शंकरप्रभृतिभिर्देवैः सदा वन्दिता।
सा माम् पातु सरस्वती भगवती निःशेषजाड्यापहा॥

2. सरस्वती नमस्तुभ्यं वर्दे कामरूपिणी
विद्यारम्भं करिष्यामि सिद्धिर्भवतु में सदा।

3. दोर्भिर्युक्ता चतुर्भिः स्फटिकमणिनिभैरक्षमालान्दधाना
हस्तेनैकेन पद्मं सितमपि च शुकं पुस्तकं चापेरण ।
भासा कुन्देन्दुशङ्खस्फटिकमणिनिभा भासमानाऽसमाना
सा मे वाग्देवतेयं निवसतु वदने सर्वदा सुप्रसन्ना ॥

4. सुरासुर सेवितपादपङ्कजा
करे विराजत्कमनीयपुस्तका ।
विरिञ्चिपत्नी कमलासनस्थिता
सरस्वती नृत्यतु वाचि मे सदा ॥

5. सरस्वती सरसिजकेसरप्रभा
तपस्विनी सितकमलासनप्रिया ।
घनस्तनी कमलविलोललोचना
मनस्विनी भवतु वरप्रसादिनी ॥

6. सरस्वति नमस्तुभ्यं वरदे कामरूपिणि ।
विद्यारम्भं करिष्यामि सिद्धिर्भवतु मे सदा ॥

7. वेदायै वेदरूपायै वेदान्तायै नमो नमः ।
गुणदोषविवर्जिन्यै गुणदीप्त्यै नमो नमः ॥
